Since I am putting this together on the fly, this will be a bit messy and disorganized. But I hope that what I provide for you will give some help. If you see errors, or would like to help contribute to this effort, please let me know. You can message me through the Profil page.
The file to the right here is a list of all the Level 1 vocabulary and grammar in list form in romaji by lesson. I didn't include the English. If you don't know the word by looking at it, it means you need to study it. If you know it already, then leave it.
The next file is the same thing just with the grammar only for each lesson. This file is must know grammar: Given that it is expected that you have mastered level 1 Japanese, I have tried to choose what is "must know" grammar. This is the grammar that will get you the most bang for the buck in my opinion. This file is vital categories of words to know. I think these categories will be really useful to know. The last file is of additional vocabulary that I think is good to know. It's really important to understand that all of this language is fair game for level 2/3 assignments and exams. I've had to be brutal to cut down the content to something manageable for a week-long review. You should return to this material occasionally to see if you can continue reviewing and remediating your learning. |

Hiragana/Katakana resources
I did a search in Japanese for: ひらがなのゲーム This will find things that likely Japanese children use when they are learning to read. Searching in Japanese can be a useful way to find authentic materials made for Japanese children. They can be a fun way to practice. It’s like you’re a kid again and plus you can supplement vocabulary. The only hard part is, they assume you already know the word, but are just learning how to read it. So it could sometimes be an overload on the brain. But practice is practice.
hiragana kids game with sea/various animals (have to learn animals, but lots of hiragana that’s being read to you at a normal speaking pace) - http://www.shimajiro.co.jp/kosodate/hiragana/hiragana_game.shtml
Drills/games at various levels: http://kids.yahoo.co.jp/study/detail/jpn001.html (same for katakana - http://kids.yahoo.co.jp/study/detail/jpn002.html )
List of various hiragana games to look at: http://allabout.co.jp/gm/gc/409478/
When looking around look of course for the words hiragana/katakana in Japanese to find the games/resources you need. Also look for kokugo (国語 in kanji) kokugo means study of the country’s language, so for Japanese kids it’s study of Japanese.
